The UAE green visa is basically a new residence visa category that distinguishes between work and residence permits.

The General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) in Dubai

and skilled workers from around the world, enhance competitiveness and flexibility in the labor market,
Having already come into force on October 3, 2022, some major improvements have been implemented to the UAE green visa,
including new 5-year residency pathways,
which were introduced primarily to attract talent, skilled professionals, self-employed, investors and entrepreneurs.
In addition to facilitating and simplifying the requirements for all types of residency,
more benefits are being offered,
including longer grace periods of up to 6 months to stay in the country after
the residency permit is canceled or expired, to facilitate residency for family members.
Green housing for skilled employees
The new green residency pathway for skilled employees provides a 5-year residency
period for skilled employees without a sponsor or employer.
The only requirements here include:
- Applicants must have a valid employment contract
- To be classified in the first, second or third occupational level,
- according to the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratization.
- The minimum educational level must be a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
- The applicant’s salary must not be less than AED 15,000 (US$4,083.74).
Please note that skilled professionals (the third level in the classification of the Ministry of Human Resources
and Emiratization), are eligible for an extended grace period of 90 days after the expiration of green residency.
Green housing for self-employment and self-employment
With the self-employment industry and the concept of flexible work models experiencing significant growth around the world,
the new green residency for self-employment and self-employment provides residency for 5 years
to self-employed and self-employed individuals without the need for a sponsor or employer in the UAE.

Obtaining an independent/independent work permit from the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation
Minimum academic qualification with a bachelor’s degree or specialized diploma.

If the investor (partner) has more than one license, the total invested capital is calculated.
New benefits for family members
The new system provides more benefits for family members.
A resident can now easily bring his family members, including their spouses and children, to the UAE.
According to the details accessed on the ICP system by the typing center agents,
the grace period to exit the UAE after residency visa cancellation has been extended to 6 months
for green visa holders and their family members. Therefore, the former sponsors
now have 6 months to either adjust their status and obtain another residency visa or leave the country.
Fines do not apply during the grace period. However,
if a green visa holder fails to renew or cancels their dependents’ visa,
the dependents may be liable to pay an overstay penalty.
In addition, the age of children has been raised to 25 (previously 18),
and there is no age limit for unmarried daughters.
Children of determination are granted a residence permit, regardless of their age.
The green residence holder is allowed to bring his first-degree relatives, and in all cases,
the residence of the family members is the same as the original residence period.
